Charles Seale Hayne Library - supporting your learning

Use any internet connection, you do not need to set up a VPN or Remote connection.

Access to all resources should be the same on and off campus IF you get to Primo after signing in via the DLE or University Portal, using your University computing name and password.

TOP TIP: The authentication system will give you more full text if you go to PubMed and Google Scholar via the 'Find Databases' link at the top of the Primo homepage. (Please note that not all resources are discoverable via PubMed or Google Scholar so it always advisable to also search Primo for results where full text is not available - just in case!).

A few technical tips...

  • If you use a Mac, Safari may not be compatible with many of our e-resources, try Google Chrome or Firefox instead.
  • Every 20 minutes or so, go back to the Primo tab and refresh (press F5 or right click and select refresh or reload). This will keep your connection to the server 'live' and prevent automatic time-outs!
  • Install a recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer.
  • Make sure your security levels are set to medium and that they allow cookies - tools > internet options > security/privacy.
  • Always follow the correct procedure for accessing electronic resources - make sure you have logged in to the University via the DLE before going to Primo.
  • Never bookmark or set shortcuts to the actual resources - they will not work!
  • Make sure you regularly delete your cookies - tools > internet options > delete temporary files and cookies.
