Open Access chapters will be in scope of future funder Open Access policies (UKRI from January 2024 and RE is expected to release a new OA policy to encompass a broader range of output types that would fall in scope of a next REF OA policy.)
Often publishers will allow authors to make one chapter of their work Open Access in an institutional repository (such as PEARL). This will usually be the accepted manuscript, although some publishers allow authors to deposit the Version of Record. An embargo may also be required.

Some publishers may not have clear Open Access policies. It is always worth requesting permission to make the accepted version of a chapter of your work open access in PEARL.
