Using the British Library Reading Room

If you are going to London it is very easy to register for the British Library Reading Room. You will need to pre-book registration for a Reader Pass online. The British Library has all the information you need (including the sort of identification you will require) on its website.

You will also need to request any items you wish to consult beforehand (see the FAQs on the registration page). You can check their catalogue online.

Please note: the British Library experienced a major hacking event some time ago and is still trying to restore its services. This means that the service they can currently offer is limited, although you can still visit. We would advise checking with their customer services at customer@bl.uk before visiting.
