Disability Support in the Library

Height-adjustable Printer

The height-adjustable printer is on Level 2 next to study room 216, on the East side of the floor. 

Easy Access Laptops

Easy to use laptops that containing all the programs you would find on our normal Student PC's along with support tech.

  • Screen Readers
  • Speech to Text
  • Colour overlays

To request a laptop from an easy access locker:

  • Select the Access Symbol at the top of the Lapsafe Screen
  • Wait for the symbol to turn green
  • Swipe your University card 
  • The screen will choose an accessible locker and apply the laptop loan to your account.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

        Rid yourself of outside distractions using noise cancelling headphones.

   To borrow these headphones please go to the Library Reception (Room 117) next to the ASK Desk on Level 1

Video Magnifier

The video magnifier is a simple-to-use machine which enables you to view printed text to a high magnification and with your own preference for background colour and text colour. It is located on level 1.

Adjustable Desks

Adjustable desks are available on Levels 0, 1, 2 & 3, so you can work at a height that suits you.

Standing desks are available on Level 1

Adjustable Chairs

Adjustable ergonomic chairs are available to borrow for use in the library, on request from the information desk on Level 1.

Colour Paper

We have coloured paper for printing that is free of charge to students with disabilities. It is next to the printers on Level 1, you do not need to ask to take it. 

If you require a coloured overlay for reading you can borrow one for use within the library. Please ask at Information Desk if you would like to borrow one.

Digital Voice Recorders

Record lectures and help with note taking or processing written information.

Digital voice recorders can be borrowed from the Information desk for 7 days at a time. The equipment must be brought in for renewal and returned at the Information desk.
