Introduction to Responsible Metrics

Introduction to Responsible Metrics

This session introduces “responsible metrics”, discusses metric use in analysing/evaluating both research outputs and researchers, and aims to increase confidence in using the most common metrics found in research tools.

This session runs regularly as part of the Doctoral College's Researcher Development Programme and additional sessions are also scheduled for research and academic staff.

This session is for all researchers:

Researcher Skills Framework Mapping:

  • RDF Domain: A [A2, C1]
  • Jisc Digital Capabilities: Digital Research and Problem-Solving [Digital creation, problem-solving and innovation (creative production)]

Web of Science and Scopus Metrics for Researchers

Web of Science and Scopus Metrics for Researchers

This session will demonstrate some of the basic tools in Web of Science and Scopus that can help answer simple questions about research outputs and areas, such as: How much has my work been cited? How many countries are citing my work? Who is funding research in my topic?

SciVal for Researchers and Research Group Leads

SciVal for Researchers and Research Group Leads

SciVal is a research intelligence tool that can be used to inform decisions around research based on bibliometric analysis. This session focuses on its potential for common research questions around collaboration, benchmarking and research trends, with follow-up opportunities to explore specific queries with the tool.

This session is for research leads and academic staff:
