A. You need to download the plug in
Sign into your Endnote Online Library (http://myendnoteweb.com)
'Downloads' > choose the correct link for your operating system
A: follow this guidance from Clarivate:
A: You need to link Endnote Online with the University's Endnote licence (via Web of Science)
If you can't see the Plymouth styles, please log in to Web of Science using the link below (which authorises you as a UoP member). Click 'Sign In' in the top right hand corner and enter the email address and password for your Endnote Online account. Check your name is appearing in the top right hand corner. Then click 'Products' > 'EndNote' at the top of the page to go to EndNote Online.
A. Always use the Edit & manage citations option in the EndNote toolbar to delete a reference correctly.
See our guidance on how to use CWYW functionality to edit or delete references correctly in Word.
A. Edit the reference in your Endnote Online library and not in Word.
See our guidance on how to use CWYW functionality to edit references so that they show correctly in Word. Remember that Endnote is coding so you cannot type directly over text in your Word documents.
When you have made your changes in Endnote Online, they should automatically update in your Word document - click 'Update Citations and Bibliography' in the Endnote toolbar ribbon if this doesn't happen.
A. Don't panic! You have accidentally converted to 'unformatted'.
'Unformatted' is a way to temporarily turn off the Endnote coding (for example, it is useful when joining together different Word documents or doing large amounts of copying/pasting of your paragraphs).
To change it back, simply click on 'Update Citations and Bibliography' on the EndNote toolbar in Word.
A. Convert your document to 'unformatted' citations.
EndNote automatically puts the full references at the end of each document. If you have been working on a large project and have several documents you want to merge into one, you can easily get all your references to appear at the very end.
To do this:
In the EndNote ribbon in Word click on 'Convert citations and bibliography' and choose 'Convert to Unformatted citations'
You will notice all your references have disappeared and the in text citations appear in curly brackets
Open a new blank document and copy and paste your documents in the usual way
Once you have merged them all into one document click on 'Update citations and Bibliography' – all your references will appear at the end of the document and your in text citations will appear correctly.
A. Download a bibliography from Endnote Online
In Endnote Online go to: 'Format' > Bibliography
select either all your references or a specific group
select your preferred referencing style
select the file format e.g. rich text
You will now have a list of references you can copy/paste into your Word document.
A: Connect to wifi network 'Eduroam' with your UoP credentials
You cannot connect to EndNote Online when connected to NHS.net, whether using a desktop or laptop. This will also affect how your Word document displays if you have added references. However, you can log in to the UoP network instead by connecting to Eduroam wifi network.
Downloading the plug-in?
You will not be able to download the CWYW plug-in to use with Word on an NHS machine. Instead, you will need to use your personal computer or use a UoP campus computer.
